Interested in becoming a Therapy Dog Team? Join Family Dog Instructor and Therapy Dog Team member Diana Doolittle to learn more about the journey to become a Therapy Dog Team. This workshop is for humans only (no dogs please). Some of the topics covered:

• Benefits of Therapy Animals – Physical, Emotional, Social
• What Makes a Good Therapy Dog / Handler – Important skills, behaviors and characteristics
• Requirements for Becoming a Registered Therapy Dog Team – Organizations include Pet Partners, Therapy Dogs International, and Independent Therapy Dogs Inc. Organization similarities and differences will be presented
• What’s Needed to Train Your Dog to Become a Therapy Dog – Obedience, Temperament, Socialization
• How to Choose the Right Environment for You and Your Dog to Visit

The second hour will include a mock evaluation demonstrating the exercises included in the Therapy Dog Evaluations. At the end of the workshop, you will get to hear from the Therapy Dog Teams about their experiences, their training, their specific organization and helpful advice that may assist you on your journey. You will have an opportunity to ask questions of the teams as well.

There are FOUR working spots available. These will be for teams that believe they are ready to take their official test. Diana Doolittle will run the dogs and handler teams thru mock evaluations at the end of the seminar. Please contact us at if you would like one of these spots.

Diana is also available for private lessons for anyone considering becoming a team, teams that think they are ready for their first test and would like a mock evaluation or teams getting ready for the re-evaluation and want to polish up some areas.
