July 15 -- Part 1: Understanding and evaluating structure and gait. Physical requirements for different dog sports. Conditioning programs and therapeutic exercise with and without equipment, and why correct form is so important for the performance dog. Introduction to exercises and equipment used for conditioning and rehabilitation.
July 22 -- Part 2: Discussion of common (and some not so common) sports injuries, their prevention and treatment options. Continuation of exercises.
Aug 5 -- Part 3: Sports acupuncture, chiropractic, nutrition, laser, supplements, herbs, regenerative medicine. What they are and when to use them. Other treatment modalities. Advanced exercises.
Join Dr. Schaefer for this unique opportunity to work with a veterinarian with over 20 years’ experience treating performance dogs, and who is also a dog sports competitor. This workshop is appropriate for dogs in all sports, from conformation to agility, obedience, freestyle, herding, lure coursing, barn hunt and more. Every week builds on information shared in the previous week; you must register for the entire series. Hours: 10 am to 12:30 pm with a short break midway through.
